EPC
Since 2008 an EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) has been required by law whenever a property is let, sold or built. It provides a rating of between A+ and G, which indicates how energy efficient a building is. A rating of A+ is very energy efficient and G is very inefficient.
The regulations were further tightened up in 2018. Since then it has been an offence for a landlord of commercial premises to sell, grant a new lease, or renew a lease on premises that have a rating of below E (i.e. F or G).
Where an EPC is required Brookmont can arrange for a commercial energy performance survey to be carried out. We will advise on how to bring the premises up to an acceptable standard for marketing if required.
Green Property
For those wishing to go beyond the regulatory requirements and improve the green credentials of a building we can provide guidance. Depending on the property there are number of options available, which can help save money (and the environment) in the long term.
Businesses can also choose to receive their energy from renewable sources. There are specialist energy companies that offer this, along with other cost saving energy switching plans designed specifically for business premises. We can provide further information on this.
